About · Grants

When we rose, we lifted others with us.

A look back at how NVC Rising returned a share of what it earned to grassroots NVC projects across the world.

Our work was completely transformed by a local NVC initiative in the Middle East, so giving back to grassroots initiatives mattered to us from the start. Following our global festivals, we set aside a share of the income and invited our community to tell us about their own NVC projects. We were moved by how many there were, and by the quality and heart of what people were building.

How projects were chosen

What we looked for

  • Clarity on how the funds would be used.
  • Clarity on the goals the project hoped to reach.
  • Diversity of the communities the project touched.
  • The breadth of needs the project uniquely met.

Who decided

A "power-with" structure.

Each grant committee was made up of one festival participant, one trainer, and one person from the wider NVC community, a deliberate "power-with" structure for how funds were shared.
