Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of Nonviolent Communication, would have turned 92 this year. We made him a small birthday gift, set to a song he loved to sing.
Sound on: Marshall sings this one
Song: “See Me Beautiful” by Red & Kathy Grammer, sung by Marshall Rosenberg.
“See Me Beautiful” is a children’s song by Red and Kathy Grammer. Marshall sang it again and again, in workshops, in trainings, to rooms full of strangers. It asks for something simple and hard at the same time: to be seen for the best in us, even on the days we can’t find it ourselves.
That was the heart of his work. Behind every judgment, every demand, every angry word, Marshall listened for a need: something alive and precious trying to be met. He carried that way of listening into schools and prisons, into families, and into places torn apart by war, and he taught it to anyone willing to try.
So on his birthday we don’t only want to remember him. We want to keep doing what he showed us. Thank you, Marshall, for seeing us beautiful.
Free, live, online

The best birthday present for Marshall is more people listening the way he did. Our upcoming events are free and open to everyone, whether NVC is new to you or already part of your life.
